About Piyush Walia

The following is from an interview that Piyush gave to Stylekandy.com

Where were you born and bred?
Piyush Walia

I was born in Punjab with father being a farmer and mother a gynecologist. I was so passionate about modeling that I left my M.B.A unfinished to join the glam world. I was so scared of my dad that for seven days I didn’t inform him about my decision, but when I shared it with him, his only words were 'Do what you feel is right.' This statement proved to be a driving force for me and then there was no looking back.

How did modelling start?
It started in May 2008 in Delhi where I won the Mr. Body Beautiful for one of the competitions organized by a reputed publication house. My official ramp walk happened for LFW in Nov 2008 for designer Swapnil Shinde, followed by VHIMW, Chivas, India Couture Week, Kolkata and then Chennai, of course.

The best and worst of being a model…
The best thing is that you get name and fame and the worst thing for me is the back biting, which I really don’t like. I am a very sensitive person.

Your fitness regime.
Nine years back, my weight was 90 kgs; so I started hitting gym religiously...my workout comprises some heavy exercises for the abdomen and thighs.

Designers you would love to walk for free of cost.
Without second thought, it would have to be Manish Malhotra.

Is it getting tougher to enter in this field today because there are many faces from everywhere in the world coming in.
That’s true, but I believe that if you have certain desires then nobody can stop you from reaching there.

Personal style statement.
I keep on experimenting on myself, as far as looks are concerned. It’s quite funny, but I cut my hair myself!

A romantic dinner for you involves.
On a beach with someone who is very down to earth, beautiful, sensitive and emotional. Though people consider me to be a 'playboy', trust me, I am not.. and I want a girl who matches my personality.

The first thought in the morning.
I want everything from my life so I start remembering the 'Chand Taare...' song from SRK’s (Shah Rukh Khan) 'Yes Boss.'

A perfect holiday for you is.
My home town with my family.

One thing you avoid doing in your life.
I don’t believe in criticising somebody behind his back.

Your passion.
I love to dance and MJ, Hrithik, and Prabhu Deva are my icons.

The most fashionable Indian city.
Mumbai, for sure!

How would you react if you were ever to experience casting couch.
Neither have I done it before, nor do I have any plans. I really feel sad for all those young models, who think this to be a ladder to their success.

What’s the next challenge?
Movies, I am looking at the options which some of the directors have offered me.
